I have worked with the team on two large-scale projects over several years. The reason we chose to work with them the first time was a few yelp reviews and how they came across as kind and knowledgeable about design. They also provided several references who sang their praises. Still, we knew our experience with them was going to be our experience and potentially not great.
To our delight, they were everything their references said and more. They asked probing questions about how we wanted to use our space and how the new space can complement our lifestyle better. They also collaborated with us through photos to better understand our specific aesthetic. They respected our design choices but also gave us several ideas for how to maximize the design’s visual impact. They expanded our very limited idea of what we thought was beautiful and we’re so glad.
They are organized, setting up spreadsheets for all the components we need for the renovation. They accompanied me to select plumbing, tile, baseboards, as well as furniture and accessories. They are very responsive to emails and phone calls with prompt, clear, and substantive answers to our many questions.
Beyond design: They helped me talk to my difficult contractor at times when he insisted on doing things his way. They changed course without irritation when we changed our minds about previous design choices and within a short time, came up with new options for us.
The outcome: Our downstairs area including the kitchen, dining room, family room, staircase, foyer, and powder room is stunning. It’s a reflection of our aesthetic but much more refined and put together because of their genius. Every time we look at a detail, we recall the lovely experience we had.
So, the second time we hired the team, it was because they are hands-down the best
at what they do. No one we’ve worked with before holds a candle to them.

Their energy-levels are ridiculous, and devotion to our redecorating projects have been outstanding. We are so fortunate to have found them. You know how sometimes you just must take a leap of faith and trust that it will ALL work out?? Well, in this case it all worked out even BETTER than I could have imagined!
After plenty of research (and boy are there a lot of options out there!), we brought in the team from Colours and Concepts. We hit the nail on the head! Right from the start, they took the reins and got to work.
The team created a very detailed plan, selected all the materials, made colour boards to help us all visualize and agree on the end goal, then she and her team worked as a liaison with the contractors, especially as issues (and an endless amount of questions) came up along the way. They were always just a phone call away and would drive over to the job site when necessary.
Reflecting back to the start of the project, I remember when it seemed like a design plan was a bit of a splurge. Now I realize, in the big picture of it all, it’s just a small portion of what you spend AND it makes the project 10x better than if you didn’t have a professionally designed plan!
And our end result is far better than we could have even imagined. Every detail was accounted for. They took the stress and guesswork out of the entire project. And while sometimes I couldn’t see the vision, I trusted that Jo-Ann and her team were the experts, so I put my faith in them to do their thing.
Would I recommend them to everyone I know?? YES, YES AND YES – a million times over!! We LOVE our home!!

The team transformed our Santa Barbara style home in Westlake Village from outdated and dingy, to fresh, bright, and modern. From design to execution, the whole process was fun and even exhilarating.
